On October 27th, the four Lafcarr sirens that make up the acoustic warning system for chemical alerts in Monzón will be activated.
Last August, the devices were updated and improved. The Government of Aragón, through the Civil Protection Service, in coordination with the Monzón City Council and Lafcarr, has scheduled a live sound test to check the system’s coverage and acoustic intensity.
For half an hour, between 12:00 and 12:30 p.m., a one-minute test emission will be carried out. Afterwards, the sirens will be activated three more times: two emergency start tones of three minutes each, and one one-minute end-of-emergency tone, marking the conclusion of the test.
During the exercise, designated collaborators will be stationed at various control points to collect data. It is expected that in the areas closest to the siren towers, a sound intensity of 85 decibels will be reached, with a minimum of 65 decibels in the more distant zones.
Currently, Monzón’s External Emergency Plan includes four companies located in the Paúles and La Armentera industrial areas, with the goal of providing a coordinated and immediate response to potential incidents. These may include chemical risks, as well as risks from the transport of hazardous materials, gas pipelines, or oil pipelines.
