Lafcarr Project & Design successfully conducted a siren drill at the Caspe and Mequinenza dams as part of the implementation of their Emergency Plans. The objective of the exercise was to verify the proper functioning of the acoustic warning system and improve the response capacity of the affected municipalities.
A coordinated effort for public safety
The drill was organized in collaboration with the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation, the Civil Protection Service of the Government of Aragón, and local authorities. The sirens, installed by Lafcarr, were activated at various locations to ensure effective coverage and immediate notification to the population in case of a real emergency.
Testing siren performance
During the drill, acoustic tests were performed with signals lasting one minute each, followed by three minutes of emergency alert tones and one minute of final signal. These sound sequences are part of the established protocol to alert the population to take protective measures, such as moving to safe areas or evacuating.
Improving emergency response protocols
The siren drill at the Caspe and Mequinenza dams is part of Lafcarr’s ongoing commitment to improving risk prevention and enhancing the coordination between authorities and residents. By testing the sirens and the entire communication system, the exercise contributes to ensuring the safety of communities living downstream of these critical infrastructures.
