More than a hundred people participated in the operation, including personnel from Civil Protection of the Government of Aragon, firefighters from the Provincial Council of Huesca, Government Sub-delegation in Huesca, City Hall, Monzón Local Police, and Civil Guard among other agencies.
The drill represents the culmination of the implementation of Monzón’s External Emergency Plan, a document developed by the Government of Aragon, which includes, for this municipality, in addition to the chemical risk and transportation of dangerous goods, risks derived from gas pipelines and oil pipelines, and territorial planning criteria regarding chemical risk.
In case of emergency, the Lafcarr sirens are activated to alert the population to the obligation of sheltering in place according to the Seveso regulations, which regulate the necessary rules to prevent serious accidents involving dangerous substances.
