As part of the Public Information and Self-Protection Program for Chemical Risk (Plaseqta and Plaseqcat), the Government of Catalonia carried out a new large-scale test of the emergency siren system this Thursday, April 18. At 11:00 a.m., 90 sirens were activated across Camp de Tarragona, Terres de l’Ebre, Baix Llobregat, Barcelonès, Vallès Occidental, Vallès Oriental, and Osona.
This exercise not only validates the proper functioning of the acoustic warning system but also reinforces a culture of risk awareness and citizen preparedness in the face of potential chemical incidents.
Cutting-edge technology for public safety
Thousands of citizens took part in this shelter-in-place drill, including more than 180 educational centers, which practiced protocols such as closing doors and windows and following Civil Protection instructions. This coordinated and effective response was made possible thanks to the commitment of all parties involved, including technology companies specialized in early warning systems, such as Lafcarr Project & Design.
