On Wednesday, June 4 at 10:00 AM, 50 chemical emergency sirens will be activated in 22 municipalities in the counties of Barcelonès, Baix Llobregat, Vallès Occidental and Vallès Oriental.

This is part of a shelter-in-place drill coordinated by Civil Protection of the Government of Catalonia.

The goal is twofold: to assess how the population responds to a potential chemical accident and to verify the proper functioning of outdoor sirens installed in industrial risk zones.

🔊 Lafcarr: Behind many of those sirens… and their maintenance

For more than two decades, Lafcarr has been designing, manufacturing, installing, and maintaining full outdoor acoustic alert systems. These sirens are part of the infrastructure that will be tested on June 4.

Our technology is tailored to industrial and urban environments, ensuring that warning signals are received clearly and rapidly, even under high ambient noise.

Regular maintenance in collaboration with public agencies, ensures that each siren is ready to operate at the most critical moment.

🗺️ Where will the sirens sound?

✅ What to do if you’re in one of the affected areas

While this is not a real emergency, it’s important to know how to act correctly during a shelter-in-place warning:

  • 🔒 Go inside the nearest building.

  • 🚪 Close all doors and windows.

  • ❌ Turn off ventilation and air conditioning systems.

  • 🛑 Stay indoors until the end-of-alert signal is heard (a continuous 30-second tone).

During the drill, a 1-minute wailing tone will sound twice, signaling the start of confinement.

🛡️ Committed to public safety

At Lafcarr, we’ve been working for years alongside Civil Protection and other public institutions to deploy and maintain alert sirens in chemical risk areas.
It’s a technical, often invisible task — but essential. Because when a siren sounds, every second matters.

On June 4, while the sirens are being tested… we’ll be listening too, as always.
