Lafcarr Project & Design carried out the electronic replacement of 14 acoustic emergency sirens in areas affected by Seveso chemical risks across Catalonia. The project, completed in 2020, was commissioned by the Department of Interior of the Government of Catalonia.
In addition to the replacements, 2 new sirens were installed and fully integrated into the existing emergency alert system, expanding its coverage and improving responsiveness in case of hazardous chemical incidents.
The system’s reliability was ensured through the implementation of redundant communication channels using TETRA and PMR radios, providing a robust and efficient solution for civil protection and public safety.
This initiative strengthens the early warning system in Seveso-risk zones, ensuring faster and more effective emergency responses for the affected communities.
