PROJECTS
Emergency Acoustic Warning System – Cepsa GLP Plant Gajano
Total Coverage of the Affected Area
Lafcarr Project & Design successfully implemented an emergency acoustic warning system at the Cepsa Liquefied Petroleum Gas (GLP) plant, located in Gajano, Cantabria. This project is part of compliance with the SEVESO Directive, which regulates prevention and response measures for serious accidents involving hazardous substances.
The system was specifically designed to cover the entire affected area of the plant, ensuring a fast and effective response to any incident. The goal is to ensure that both plant personnel and nearby residents receive clear and timely alerts in the event of an emergency.
Technology and Implemented Components
A high-power electronic siren was installed, mounted in a double protection enclosure, capable of emitting up to 123 dB(C) at 30 meters, providing optimal acoustic coverage throughout the influence area.
The system relies on redundant communication channels, operating via GPRS and PMR radio, ensuring reliable signal transmission even during crises or network failures.
Industrial Safety and SEVESO Regulation
The European SEVESO III Directive (2012/18/EU) requires high-risk industrial facilities to implement safety measures that protect both workers and the surrounding population. This Lafcarr project complies with these requirements as part of the External Emergency Plan (EEP) and the plant’s Internal Action Plan.
Community Commitment
This project reinforces Lafcarr and Cepsa’s commitment to industrial safety and community protection. Thanks to this solution, residents of Gajano and nearby areas benefit from a reliable early warning system in case of critical incidents such as gas leaks or explosions.
